Introduction of UN Organizations

At present, more than 20 UN organizations maintain local offices in Japan. Established not only in Tokyo but in areas across the country, the offices operate as bases for individual UN entities, while at the same time endeavouring to increase familiarity among the Japanese population, with the works of the UN as a whole.
The following is an introduction to the UN's offices in Japan and a message to the Japanese people.

"In Fukushima, I spoke about kizuna – our bonds of friendship. Kizuna also means international solidarity. The United Nations stands by Japan, just as Japan has always stood by the United Nations."

-- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon,
At a reception hosted by Japan to mark one-year anniversary of
the Great East Japan Earthquake, 8 March 2012
