国連広報センターは今秋、国連コミュニケーションズ・グループ・ジャパン（UNCG-J）、外務省、日本国際連合協会、模擬国連委員会と共に「国連ウィーク2009」を開催します。10月16日（金）から24日（土）までの1週間にわたり、地球規模の課題に焦点を当てながら、国連を通して世界と私たちの未来を考える様々なイベントを全国各地で開催する取り組みです。「国連ウィーク」は今年初めて実施されます。

「国連ウィーク2009」のキックオフ・イベントは、貧困の解消と国連ミレニアム開発目標（MDGs）の達成を求めて世界中の人々が同時に立ち上がる「Stand Up Take Action（スタンド・アップ・テイク・アクション）」です（10月16日から18日の3日間）。「国連ウィーク2009」最終日の10月24日は、「国連デー」です。今から64年前に国連憲章が発効したことを記念し、世界各地で毎年、様々な記念行事が行われています。

「国連ウィーク2009」期間中に、全国で数多くの国連関連イベントが企画され、より多くの方が国連に関心を持ちその活動を知っていただけるよう、国連広報センターは「国連ウィーク2009」のスペシャル・ロゴとポスターを作成しました（制作協力：デザイナー坂井大輔）。　同ウィークの趣旨に同意し、国連に関するイベントの開催を予定・検討されている方々に広く活用いただければと願っています。詳細は http://unic.or.jp/un_week/logo をご覧ください。

United Nations Information Centre in cooperation with United Nations Communications Group-Japan (UNCG-J), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, United Nations Association of Japan and Japan Model United Nations Society, will this Autumn present UN Week 2009. The Week, which will be held for the first time in 2009, will span from October 16 to 24, and is to provide a common platform for a range of UN-related events to be held throughout the nation. Such events are intended to draw attention to global issues and provide an opportunity for considering the works of the UN and for sharing hopes for the future.

The Week will commence with Stand Up Take Action (running for three days from October 16 to 18) and will conclude with UN Day on October 24. This year will mark the 64th anniversary of the founding of the UN, and events will be held in commemoration of the Day around the world.

During UN Week 2009, it is intended that events related to the Week will be held throughout the nation, in order to boost understanding of and general support for the UN’s activities among as many people in Japan as possible. To this end, United Nations Information Centre has created the Week’s special logo and posters (produced with the support of designer, Mr. Daisuke Sakai). It is hoped that those interested in holding related events will make full use of these materials and assist in advancement of the Week as a whole.
