GC-JN・国連広報センター共催セミナー 国連ミレニアム開発目標（MDGs）達成に向けた企業の取り組み

21世紀における地球規模の課題について、極度の貧困を半減することや環境の持続可能性を確保することなど、国際社会には8つの開発目標があります。これを国連ミレニアム開発目標（Millennium Development Goals = MDGs）といい、2015年までに達成することをめざしています。
国連広報センターはグローバル・コンパクト・ジャパン・ネットワーク（GC-JN）との共催により、MDGs達成に向けた企業の取り組みに関するセミナーを、10月20日（火）に東京・渋谷の国連大学本部ビル（UNハウス）で開催します。同セミナーでは、国連諸機関の協力を得て、MDGs達成に向けた進捗状況の報告、国連と企業の活動事例の紹介、さらに企業の取り組みについてパネル・ディスカッションを行います。
2015年の達成期限までの持続的な行動は大きな結果につながります。国連と企業が一緒に考えるこの機会に、幅広い層からのご参加をお待ちしています。

Seminar Jointly Hosted by the GC-JN and the United Nations Information Centre / Corporate Efforts Towards Achieving Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

The international community has been tasked with achieving eight development goals, such as halving the proportion of people in extreme poverty and ensuring environmental sustainability, in order to address issues of global importance in the 21st century. Called the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), they are targets to be achieved by the year 2015.
In partnership with the Global Compact Japan Network (GC-JN), the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) is to host a seminar on corporate efforts towards achieving the MDGs on Tuesday, 20 October at the United Nations University Headquarters Building (UN House) in Shibuya, Tokyo. Representatives of UN agencies will be on hand to report on current progress in achieving the MDGs and introduce examples of initiatives being undertaken by the UN and companies. There will also be a panel discussion on action by companies.
Sustained action from now until the 2015 deadline will lead to impressive results. This seminar represents an opportunity for the UN and companies to come together in thinking about what they can do, so we hope that a wide range of people will attend.
