国連事務局リクルート・ミッション講演会を開催
内 容： 人的資源担当国連事務次長補 キャサリン・ポラード氏の講演
テーマ： 「よりよい世界のために国連で働く」

場 所： 国連大学本部（渋谷区） 3階ウ・タント国際会議場
共 催： 外務省（MoFA）、国連大学（UNU）、国連広報センター（UNIC）
· キャサリン・ポラード氏（Catherine Pollard）人的資源管理担当国連事 務次長補を団長とする国連事務局リクルート・ミッションが来日。
この機会に、ポラード国連事務次長補他による「よりよい世界のために国連で働く」と題する講演会を開催する。
· 講演会では、ポラード国連事務次長補による基調講演の他、国連人事担当者である国連人的資源管理局アウトリーチ・ユニット長 ジョン・エリクソン氏、国連フィール ド支援局アウトリーチ調整官 スーザン・ハンチントン氏からの国連での就職機会や求められる人材に関するプレゼンテーションが行われる。
· 国連東ティモール統合ミッション・ガバナンス部長 井上健および国連人的資源管理局アウトリーチ・ユニット 伊藤美保子の二人の日本人職員から、国連PKOやニューヨークの国連本部での勤務について、国連の前線からの報告も予定されている。
· 開会挨拶は、ゴヴィンダン・パライル国連大学副学長、閉会挨拶は、外務省総合外交政策局審議官 廣木重之氏が行う。
· 今回の講演は、国連の人事部門のトップや国連の前線で活躍する日本人職員からの話を聞くことができる貴重な機会である。
· 本講演は英語のみ。通訳はなし。

Top UN Human Resources Management Officials to Speak about Employment Opportunities with the United Nations
Event: A Lecture by Catherine Pollard, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Resources Management
Theme: “Serving the United Nations for a Better World”

· A United Nations Secretariat Recruitment Mission, led by Catherine Pollard, Assistant Secretary-General for Human Resources Management, is visiting Japan this month. Assistant Secretary-General Pollard will use this opportunity to deliver a public lecture entitled “Serving the United Nations for a Better World”.
· Her lecture will be followed by presentations on employment opportunities at the UN by John Ericson, Outreach Unit Chief, UN Office of Human Resources Management, and Susan Huntington, Outreach Coordinator, UN Department of Field Support for Peacekeeping Operations.
· Two Japanese nationals — Ken Inoue, Director of the Governance Support Unit, UN Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT), and Mihoko Itoh, Outreach Unit, UN Office of Human Resources Management — will then report on their experience at the frontline of United Nations fieldwork.
· Opening and closing remarks will be presented by, respectively, Govindan Paryil, Vice-Rector, UNU, and Shigeyuki Hiroki, Deputy Director-General, Foreign Policy Bureau, MoFA.
· This event represents a valuable opportunity for people in Japan who are interested in a career with the United Nations to hear directly from senior UN human resources management officials as well as from Japanese nationals now working with the UN.
