世界が決めた約束まであと５年
～MDGs：これまでの成果と残された課題～
「国連デー」は1945年10月24日に国連憲章が発効したことを記念して設けられた国連の記念日です。今年の国連デーのテーマは、2015年までに世界の貧困を大幅に削減することなどをめざす国連ミレニアム開発目標（MDGs）。しかし、この重要な目標を国連だけで成し遂げることはできません。できるだけ多くの皆さんの支援と参加が必要です。
今年9月に国連本部で開催された「MDGサミット」を締めくくるにあたって、潘基文（パン・ギムン）国連事務総長は次のように述べています。「もし社会のすべての構成員、すなわち国際社会、政府、企業、慈善団体、任意団体、および市民社会が2015年に向けて共に力を合わせて行動するならが、MDGsの達成は可能です」
2010年の国連デーを記念して、10月22日（金）、駐日国連諸機関は東京・渋谷の国連大学本部ビル（UNハウス）にて「UN DAY 2010 世界が決めた約束まであと5年 ～MDGs：これまでの成果と残された課題～」を共同開催します。当日は、トークショーやパネル・ディスカッションなどを通して、貧困削減、食料安全保障、保健、教育などMDGs達成に向けたこれまでの取り組みを振り返るとともに、2015年の達成期限に向けて残されている課題について考えます。また屋外では、国連デー記念Farmer’s Market @ UNUが開催され、農産物の直売に加えて音楽やフード・スタンドの設置が予定されています。
達成期限までの5年間、日本として、また日本に暮らす地球市民として、私たち一人ひとりがどのように貢献できるか、いっしょに考えてみませんか。なお、UN DAY 2010のうちPart2に参加ご希望の方は別紙の申込書( http://unic.or.jp/pdf/unday2010.pdf )に必要事項をご記入の上、10月21日（木）までにファックスまたはEメールで当センターまでお申込みください（Fax: 03-5467-4455, E-mail: ）。

ネパールにおける学校を中心とした包括的衛生の普及。
・九州大学【アシル・アーメッド特任准教授】＊国連アカデミック・インパクト参加大学産学連携でグラミン銀行（バングラディシュ）と共に、貧困問題などの解決にビジネスの手法を用いるソーシャルビジネスを実施。

“Only five years left before the 2015 deadline –
MDGs: What have we achieved, what remains to be done?”
UN Day is held each year in commemoration of the entry into force of the United Nations Charter on 24 October 1945. The Theme for UN Day 2010 is the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which aim to drastically reduce global poverty by 2015. However, the UN cannot achieve these crucial objectives in isolation, and seeks the support and involvement of as many people as possible.
At the closing of the MDG Summit held in September of this year, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for a unified approach: “Together we can do it. Partnerships for development deliver real results on the ground. We can achieve the MDGs if all sectors of society – the international community, national governments, business, the philanthropic sector, voluntary organizations and civil society at large – come together for a push to 2015”.
Accordingly, UN entities in Japan will gather at UNU HQ Building on Friday 22 October, to collectively present “UN Day 2010 – MDGs: What have we achieved, what remains to be done?” On the Day, a talk show and panel discussion will highlight ways in which the MDGs initiative has achieved meaningful progress in areas such as poverty reduction, food security and education, while also drawing attention to the significant challenges still faced. Outside, “Farmer’s Market @ UNU” will offer passersby a chance to purchase agricultural goods directly from producers and obtain UN information materials, while enjoying food stands and musical performances.
With only five years remaining to the 2015 deadline, it is hoped that UN Day 2010 will provide an opportunity for each of us to consider how we – both as individuals and together with Japan as a nation – can contribute to the eradication of global poverty through the MDGs. Those wishing to participate in the indoor programme for UN Day 2010 are kindly asked to submit a completed application ( http://unic.or.jp/pdf/unday2010.pdf )form via email or fax, by Thursday 21 October (fax: 03-5467-4455, email: ).

The market will be open through the weekend. UN agencies will also set up information booths in the market, providing leaflets and handouts about the work of the UN focusing on MDGs.
