Bilingual Website Page: UN Organizations in Japan at a glance
Press Release 09-053-E 2009.12.07
Celebrating the launch of UN Week 2009, United Nations Information Centre in cooperation with United Nations Communications Group-Japan (UNCG-J) has added a new section to its official website, introducing UN Organizations in Japan (https://www.unic.or.jp/un_agency/index.html).
At present, more than 20 UN organizations maintain local offices in Japan, not only in Tokyo but in areas across the country. These offices operate as bases for individual UN entities, while at the same time endeavouring to increase familiarity among the Japanese population, with the works of the UN as a whole.
Within the new site, each separate page starts with a brief introduction of the relevant organization’s work, followed by a message to the Japanese people from a representative in Japan. The contact list page also contains URL links to keep users abreast with the latest activities of organizations, as well as other general information provided both in Japanese and English.
*The United Nations Communications Group-Japan (UNCG-J) is the collective communications mechanism of the UN Secretariat and UN Agencies, and functions to coordinate public relations.
