A Photo Exhibition Marking the 50th Anniversary of Japan’s Entry into the UN
to Start on Friday, 1 December
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Japan’s entry into the United Nations, on 18 December 1956. To help Japanese people better understand the UN’s activities, the UN Gallery will hold a photo exhibition entitled: “The 50 Years of Japan and the United Nations – Japanese UN Staff in the World.”
The exhibition will display some 60 photographs contributed directly by the Japanese staff working in developing countries, particularly in Africa and Asia, as well as in UN offices around the world. The exhibition will provide an opportunity to reflect on the functions of the United Nations and the relationship between Japan and the UN through images of Japanese staff who are playing important roles in the international arena.
With the cooperation of Mori Building Co., Ltd. and TV Asahi Corporation, video clips based on the photographs displayed in the UN Gallery will be run on giant screens in Roppongi Hills, Omotesando Hills and TV Asahi from 1 to 18 Decmeber. You are invited to take a look at them as well.

This photo exhibition will be held in conjunction with the “UN Children’s Art Competition” Exhibition, another event to mark the 50th anniversary of Japan’s entry into the UN.
